Peking 1684/1692 Kanjur (K)

Date of production1684
Place of production
DescriptionThe Kanjur edition prepared in Peking between 1684 and 1692 under the reign of the emperor Kangxi (康熙 1661-1722) is an adaptation of the Yongle Kanjur. New xylographic plates were cut for this occasion. A change was made in the numbering system of the volumes. In the Yongle and Wanli Kanjurs each section was numbered separately starting with the volume Ka, whereas the volumes in this Kanjur were numbered throughroughly, starting with the Tantra section and ending with the Vinaya Section. A set of this Kanjur is preserved in Beijing, one in the Harvard Yenching Library and one in the International Academy of Indian Culture in New Delhi.
